twenty two Three years in the making

Color Theory

DOMA red, blue, green and purple have been in our packaging and branding for years. Now, these colors appear in an expanded color pallet made up from nine color tiles from each original color. We looked into the future and chose some of the colors we loved.

Label Versions

DOMA offers coffee blends, illustrated blends, single origin, decaffeinated, and limited edition coffees. The red labels are coffee blends. Green labels will be single origin coffees. Blue is decaffeinated and purple is limited edition with the new crest icon. The fan favorite illustrated coffee blends have a revised color treatment. All organic coffees have the USDA Organic icon on the label. Find them in our entire offering. (Organic is not just green labels anymore.)

BEFORE

AFTER

Blends

Blends are comprised of several coffees blended together to create a specific flavor profile. Our blends have been fine-tuned over 22 years of roasting and sourcing coffee to create an amazing cup with any brew method.

Single Origin

A coffee from a single region, community, or farm of one country is called a single origin. These coffees can showcase the terroir of the region and the farming and processing methods used. We often roast single origin coffees a bit lighter to highlight their unique characteristics.

Decaf

We use only Swiss Water® and Mountain Water processed decaf coffees. We source great quality green coffee, then send it, in small lots, to be decaffeinated using a 100% chemical-free process. We drink decaf regularly and have heard many say our decafs are some of the best they have tried.

Limited Edition

These coffees are the cream of the crop; limited in quantity, high scoring, and often produced using a unique processing method. Roasted to highlight the processing method and farmer’s efforts, these coffees will have an amazing taste profile. We are excited to share these world class coffees that have our limited edition icon on the purple label as they deserve royal treatment.

Illustrated Blends

We love working with artists from all over the nation. These illustrated labels by Josh Quick showcase the fun we had with the names and designs, and the coffees behind the labels are some of the best tasting organic blends we have developed. La Bicicletta raises money for cycling non-profits.

Organic coffee

DOMA is a certified organic roasting facility. Certified by the Idaho State Department of Agriculture since 2004, we were one of the first (the first?) in Idaho to be able to feature the USDA Organic seal on our coffee bags. Look for the USDA Organic icon on the upper right of the labels

Taste notes

Three words define the taste you may be able to find in each coffee: aroma, flavor, and aftertaste. These are compiled by our Quality Control specialist and certified cupper. These are taste notes, not added flavors.

Coffee Names and Colors

We have chosen blend names with meaning and history. We named many of our coffee blends after our Italian heritage or family. Vito’s Blend was our first coffee developed in 2000 as an espresso blend. If the coffee is a blend, it will have red tiles with the word blend in the name. Single Origin coffees will always have the country of origin first, then the region or a farm name will follow. Look for the green label.

Anatomy of a Bag

The Bag

Biotre® 2.0 packaging includes an interior layer that consists of 100% plant-based, renewable resources, i.e. sugar cane. This is a non-biodegradable layer made from renewable resources. The outer layers consist of cellulose from wood pulp. Biotre® preserves our natural resources by reducing the use of finite fossil fuel and mineral resources. While most barrier packaging is made almost exclusively from petroleum-based plastics or aluminum foil, Biotre® film layers consist of nearly 100% renewable plants. It’s the best of the worst.

Brewing Instructions

You’ve just bought a bag of great coffee. Might as well know how to brew it properly.

The Man

The man icon is part of our logo and brand and is our founder’s father. He looks over us daily and keeps the beans in the bags and not in his son’s pockets. He can be found riding alongside the words DOMA or just hanging out on the bag.

SEAL

Not the singer, but that would be cool. His early music, especially in the greatest ski movie ever made, Groove, is fantastic. No, here we are talking about heat sealing the bag to help keep the coffee fresh.

BOB

Back of bag. We love words, so we did not limit ourselves when it came time to use words for our mission statement. Why only write a paragraph when you can have a wall of paper words that you relate to and love? We invite you to consider the words you relate to. Pour yourself a cup of coffee and have a read.

Belly Button

Some call it a one-way degassing valve, but either way it’s great for releasing unwanted CO2 from the coffee bag.

coffee -
Quality-focused with ethical sourcing practices.

culture - European coffee culture was our original inspiration. In Seattle, we dove deeper and threw all things we loved into a snow globe and shook them up. Out came design, vinyl records, skiing, cycling and environmental stewardship.

meaning - We run a business so we can have a positive impact on people, place and the planet. We work hard to function as responsible citizens. All decisions at DOMA are made with an awareness of our impact. This brings up our secondary and unofficial tag line: Doing business for good and not evil since 2000.
